Home Gym Con Review
Why We Keep Coming Back for the Gear, People, and Louisville Experience
We attended Home Gym Con in both 2025 and 2026, and it has become an event we look forward to as home gym owners and equipment reviewers. If you enjoy building a garage gym, comparing equipment, or discovering what manufacturers are working on next, there is a lot to like about spending a few days surrounded by people who share that interest.

The equipment is the obvious attraction, but it is only part of the experience. You get to meet the people behind the brands, connect with creators you normally watch online, discover smaller companies, and explore Louisville when the show floor closes. Some vendors add giveaways and serious show discounts to the mix, making the weekend even more appealing.
For GearMashers, the biggest benefit is getting beyond product photos and specifications. A few minutes with a machine can help you ask better questions than hours spent looking at it online.
What Is Home Gym Con?
Home Gym Con, officially styled HomeGymCon, brings together equipment companies, home gym owners, creators, and industry professionals. It is focused on the equipment and ideas that help people train at home, whether their setup is a spare room, a garage, or a dedicated training space.
You do not need an enormous gym to get something out of it. Someone buying a first adjustable bench can benefit from comparing options just as much as someone planning an entire rack and cable system. The important thing is arriving with curiosity and giving yourself time to explore.
Our Experience in 2025 and 2026
Attending in consecutive years gave us a reason to keep following products after the first demonstration. We saw REP’s STRIVE curved treadmill at Home Gym Con in 2025 and again in 2026, before covering its eventual release on GearMashers. That kind of continuity makes the event especially useful: you can follow a concept as it moves toward something people can actually buy.
Our 2026 visit also introduced us to the QRope. We enjoyed trying it at the show, but the more meaningful test came afterward. Once it was in our home gym, it became something we used every day. That is exactly the kind of discovery that makes a convention worthwhile—finding equipment that earns a place in your training rather than simply looking interesting in a booth.
You can read more about those products in our REP STRIVE Curved Treadmill review and QRope review.
Home Gym Con | Pros and Cons
Pros
- Professional event coordinators, welcoming vendors, and enthusiastic attendees create an excellent atmosphere.
- Direct conversations with vendors help you compare products and get useful answers.
- Hands-on demos let you try a wide variety of equipment and attachments before buying.
- Opportunities to meet manufacturers and company owners put you closer to the people behind the products.
- Deep show discounts can make upgrading your home gym more affordable.
- Louisville is a fun city to explore beyond the convention.
- Fantastic local food makes the trip even more enjoyable.
- Many attendees fly in and have limited room to bring equipment home, leaving some great deals for those who arrive by car or truck with space to spare.
Cons
- No Direct Flights for many attendees - Being in Louisville and coming into the Louisville Airport while nice, often means having at least one layover. If the con was held in a bigger city, direct flight would be easier to get.
- Influencers may run out of time trying to get video and interviews since the venue only last 2.5 days and there is so much to see and cover.
- Traveling from farther away can make coordinating equipment purchases and shipping challenging. Those who drive have a clear advantage, especially if they bring a truck or leave room in their vehicle to take home their Home Gym Con finds.
See Equipment Before It Reaches the Public
One of the best reasons to attend Home Gym Con is the opportunity to see products before their retail release. Some companies bring prototypes, upcoming accessories, and designs still being refined. You get an early look at where home gym equipment is heading, rather than waiting for the launch announcement.
The show’s new product releases page illustrates that range, with equipment such as REP’s articulating trolley arms and REP x Dialed Motion Leg Developer, Rogue’s Air Rhino, and new bench-based systems and strength machines.
We had the opportunity to try the REP x Dialed Motion Leg Developer at Home Gym Con. It had not yet been released to the public when this article was written. A brief show demo does not replace extended testing, but it gives us a much better starting point for discussing the design and identifying what we want to evaluate later.
For shoppers, seeing upcoming equipment can also change a purchasing decision. You might discover an attachment worth waiting for, or find that the product already on your shortlist fits your needs better. Either outcome is useful when the purchase involves money, floor space, and equipment you hope to use for years.
Our REP x Dialed Motion Leg Developer preview covers the announced features and the questions we still want to answer through longer testing.
Talk Directly With the People Behind the Equipment
Home gym shoppers often have questions that a specification table cannot answer. Will an attachment fit your particular rack? How much clearance does a machine need during use? Can the bench you already own work with a new accessory? What changes were made between the prototype and the production version?
At Home Gym Con, you can take those questions directly to the manufacturer teams. Instead of trying to explain your setup through a series of messages, you can point to the equipment, describe your space, and have a conversation about it.
This access is one of the event’s biggest strengths. You get to talk with people from the main manufacturers in the home gym and garage gym community, while also hearing from smaller companies solving very specific problems. It is a useful opportunity to explain what works in your gym and what you wish someone would improve.
My advice is to bring photos of your setup and measurements of the space you are working with. A conversation becomes much more productive when you can show exactly where an attachment or machine would go.
Vendors: Big Brands and Smaller Discoveries
The vendor directory includes familiar names such as REP Fitness, Rogue Fitness, Titan Fitness, Fringe Sport, Bells of Steel, ATX, PRIME Fitness, Freak Athlete, Concept2, and Dialed Motion. Smaller accessory and equipment companies broaden the selection beyond the major rack and machine brands.
That variety matters. You might arrive interested in a large piece of equipment and leave thinking about a compact accessory that solves an everyday problem. Give the smaller booths some time rather than spending the entire visit at the brands you already know.
Vendor participation and equipment displays change between events, so use the official directory to plan your visit rather than assuming every company returns each year.
Giveaways and Deep Discounts Add to the Fun
Some booths offer more than demonstrations. The vendor descriptions associated with the 2026 show included REP’s deadlift-party swag and prizes, Synergy Custom Fitness giveaways, and a Mutant Metals giveaway featuring a Beyond Power Voltra paired with a Darko Lifting Quick Mount. These are examples of past promotions, rather than promises for the next event.
The discounts can be substantial, too. The official 2026 booth sales listings advertised 40% off REP’s listed sale items. That is a meaningful reduction for someone who was already considering a purchase.
Buying show equipment does require planning. The published REP offer required full payment, excluded refunds, and called for pickup after the show, with later dock access for large items. Other vendors set their own terms. Ask whether the item is a floor model, what is included, how pickup works, and which warranty or return conditions apply.
If you are driving, leave room for potential purchases. If you are flying, ask about shipping before committing. A good discount is most useful when you can get the equipment home without creating an expensive transport problem.
Meeting Coop From Garage Gym Reviews and Gluck From Gluck’s Gym
Across our visits, we have met Coop from Garage Gym Reviews and Gluck from Gluck’s Gym. For anyone who spends time watching home gym equipment videos, seeing familiar creators in person is a fun part of the experience.
The broader community is a major reason to go. Home gym owners can spend a lot of time comparing products online without ever meeting the people having those same conversations. Home Gym Con brings those people together in one place.
It is easy to find common ground when everyone is interested in training and equipment. You do not have to explain why you care about a new rack attachment or why a small change to a bench design caught your attention. That shared interest makes the event feel welcoming to people who enjoy the details of building a gym.
Louisville Is Part of the Appeal
Louisville gives the trip an identity beyond the convention itself. Downtown combines distinctive architecture, restaurants, and entertainment, making it worth leaving some time in your schedule to explore.
Fourth Street Live! is one nearby option for dining and entertainment, with restaurants, music, and events in its downtown district. You can make the trip a full weekend rather than heading straight from the show floor back to your room.
That is particularly helpful if you are traveling with someone who enjoys fitness but does not want every hour of the trip devoted to equipment. Plan time for the show, but leave room for a meal and some of the city as well.
The Venue: Kentucky International Convention Center
Home Gym Con’s Louisville venue is the Kentucky International Convention Center, at 221 South Fourth Street. Its downtown location puts hotels, restaurants, and attractions nearby, which makes the surrounding area a practical base for the trip.
The convention center has a modern design and substantial exhibit space. For an equipment-focused event, the venue matters because machines need room to be displayed and demonstrated, while attendees need time and space to compare them.
The biggest advantage for planning is the location. Staying near the venue can simplify the day and make it easier to combine the convention with dinner downtown. Check your hotel’s actual route to the entrance, along with parking arrangements, before booking.
Where We Recommend Staying: The Galt House
Our recommended hotel for Home Gym Con is the Galt House. It puts you an easy walk of roughly three blocks from the event, making it convenient to get to the convention without turning each morning into a parking or transportation project. It also has a fantastic gym at the top of the hotel with a 360 view of the city.
The hotel’s downtown waterfront location also works well for exploring Louisville after the show. For a trip centered on equipment, food, and time around the river, it makes a practical base. Check the official event’s hotel information for any available room block before booking.
Places to Eat Around the Convention Center
Good food is part of what makes the Louisville trip enjoyable. Three of our recommendations are Wiltshire Pantry for pastries, Con Huevos! for breakfast burritos, and In Season for chicken and rice dishes. Here are those picks alongside additional downtown options to consider.
| Restaurant | Location | Why go? |
|---|---|---|
| Wiltshire Pantry Bakery & Café—Downtown | Downtown Museum Row | Awesome pastries, plus breakfast, lunch, and coffee. |
| Con Huevos!—Omni Hotel location | 210 W. Liberty Street | Great breakfast burritos before a day at the show. |
| In Season Harvest Kitchen | 324 W. Main Street | Great chicken and rice dishes for a satisfying meal. |
| Mussel & Burger Bar—Downtown | 113 S. Seventh Street | Burgers, mussels, and a casual meal after the show. |
| Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar | 127 W. Main Street | Smoked meats, seafood, and Southern food on historic Whiskey Row. |
| Wild Eggs—Downtown | 121 S. Floyd Street | Another breakfast or brunch option. |
| Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse at Fourth Street Live! | Fourth Street Live!, 411 S. Fourth Street | Smoked meats in the nearby dining and entertainment district. |
| The Brown Hotel | 335 W. Broadway | A little farther south, with the opportunity to try Louisville’s famous Hot Brown at its place of origin. |
Wiltshire Pantry: Make Time for the Pastries
Wiltshire Pantry makes awesome pastries and deserves a place on your food list. Its downtown bakery and café is a good option for a pastry and coffee before exploring the city or heading into the convention. It also offers breakfast and lunch if you want more than a quick stop.
Con Huevos!: Great Breakfast Burritos
Con Huevos! is our recommendation for a great breakfast burrito. A substantial breakfast makes sense before a day spent walking the show floor and trying equipment. The Omni Hotel location on West Liberty Street is a convenient downtown option; check the location’s current menu and hours before visiting.
In Season: Chicken and Rice Worth Seeking Out
In Season Harvest Kitchen is another recommendation, especially for its chicken and rice dishes. It is a good choice when you want a satisfying meal between convention activities and exploring downtown.
The other options add variety for groups with different tastes. Mussel & Burger Bar offers burgers and mussels, while Doc Crow’s covers barbecue and seafood. The Brown Hotel adds local food history: the Hot Brown was invented there in 1926. Check restaurant hours and menus when planning your visit.
Things to Do in Louisville Beyond Home Gym Con
The convention is the reason for the trip, but Louisville gives you plenty of reasons to leave some extra time in your schedule. These are some of the places we recommend adding to the weekend.
Cathedral of the Assumption: A Spectacular Church
The Cathedral of the Assumption is a must-visit Catholic church in downtown Louisville. It is spectacular and worth making time to see while you are in the city.
If your trip extends into Sunday, attending Mass is well worth considering, even if you’re not Catholic. It adds a meaningful stop to the weekend and an opportunity to experience the cathedral as a place of worship. Check the cathedral’s Mass schedule when planning your visit.
Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory: A Must for Baseball Fans
For baseball fans, the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory belongs on the list. Located at 800 West Main Street, it offers a chance to explore the connection between Louisville and one of baseball’s most recognizable names.
It is a good addition to the trip if you want something beyond gym equipment, especially when traveling with someone who loves baseball. Check ticket and tour availability in advance so you can fit the visit around the convention.
Muhammad Ali Center: Boxing History and a Louisville Legend
The Muhammad Ali Center, at 144 North Sixth Street, is another attraction worth adding to your Home Gym Con trip. Its museum explores Ali’s Louisville beginnings, boxing career, and life beyond the ring through artifacts, films, and interactive exhibits.
For visitors who enjoy training and sports history, the connection is especially appealing. You can explore the timeline of his career, watch footage of famous fights, and visit the “Train with Ali” exhibit, which recreates elements of his Deer Lake training camp. Other exhibits examine his guiding principles and humanitarian legacy, giving the visit a broader perspective than boxing alone.
It is a good addition to a downtown itinerary, whether you are a longtime boxing fan or simply interested in one of Louisville’s most recognizable figures. Check the center’s current hours and ticket information before planning your visit around the convention.
Walk or Run Across the Big Four Bridge
If you love walking or running, the Big Four Bridge is a must. The pedestrian and bicycle bridge crosses the Ohio River from Louisville’s Waterfront Park into Jeffersonville, Indiana. The river views make it a memorable way to get outside and keep moving during the trip.
Crossing the bridge lets you explore both sides of the river. Once in Jeffersonville, stop at Coffee Crossing on Spring Street for a pastry and coffee before heading back. It makes a nice destination for a walk, or a relaxed stop after a run.
Allow time to reach the bridge from downtown, cross it, and explore the Indiana side. This is an outing to build into your schedule rather than squeeze into a short break between booths.
Take the Belle of Louisville Along the Ohio River
Another must if you have time is a cruise aboard the Belle of Louisville. Taking the historic steamboat along the Ohio River gives you a different perspective on the city and a relaxing change of pace after a day at the convention.
Check the cruise calendar for a sailing that fits your visit, and confirm that your chosen trip is aboard the Belle itself. It is a memorable way to make the weekend feel like a Louisville getaway as well as an equipment event.
How to Get More Out of Your Visit
Start with the floor map and identify the booths you most want to visit, but leave room for discoveries. Arriving with a rigid shopping list can mean overlooking something genuinely useful.
Wear comfortable shoes, allow time for demonstrations, and take notes on the equipment you try. Record the exact model, the features you liked, and anything that did not feel right. Those observations will be easier to compare once you are home.
If a major purchase is on your list, bring your rack dimensions, ceiling height, and available floor space. Ask whether the unit on display is the final production version or a prototype. Then find out what is included in the retail package.
A trade-show demonstration is valuable, but it is still a short encounter. Use it to narrow your choices and ask better questions, especially when long-term comfort, durability, or compatibility will determine whether a product works for you.
Is Home Gym Con Worth Attending?
After attending in 2025 and 2026, we think Home Gym Con deserves a place on the calendar for people who enjoy home gym equipment. The strongest reasons to go are the opportunity to try products, see upcoming designs, and talk directly with the people behind the brands.
The giveaways and deep discounts are enjoyable extras. Meeting creators such as Coop and Gluck adds another dimension, and Louisville gives you plenty to do once the show closes.
For GearMashers, the value is in what carries over into our home gym and our reviews. The QRope is a good example: something we discovered at the event became equipment we continued using long after the visit. That is a much stronger reason to attend than simply coming home with a bag of swag.
If you are planning a garage gym upgrade—or just enjoy seeing what the industry is developing—Home Gym Con is worth considering. Go with questions, leave time to explore, and make the city part of the experience.
The Next Home Gym Con
As checked on October 2, 2026, the organizer lists the next Home Gym Con for July 29–31, 2027, at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. Use the official event website for tickets and current details. Some supporting vendor and sales pages still describe 2026 activities, so check the event year when reviewing offers.
