Peak Design Travel Tripod Review
Peak Design, the pretty amazing camera accessory company is launching a new product called the Peak Design Travel Tripod and they are doing it on Kickstarter.
What makes Peak Design Travel Tripod’s stand out is their unique space-saving design that virtually eliminates gaps between the legs when collapsed.
Peak Design says the the tripod is the world’s most compact and professional travel tripod yet and they just might be right.
Jason Vong and Peter McKinnon have some pretty stellar reviews of the Tripod since they were lucky enough to get some pre-production models. I guess I need to reach 100K before I will see demo copies from Peak Design (Show me the love too).

It makes perfect sense that Peak Design would jump into the Tripod market. They already make excellent camera bags including the Peak Design Everyday Sling, Everyday Backpack, and Everyday Messenger.
Judging from their Kickstarter campaign, where they have already hit over 4 million and climbing, people already think Peak Design has a winner.
The Travel Tripod takes up half the volume of a traditional travel tripod by eliminating bulky and protruding knobs and virtually eliminating all the empty space between the legs. The result? Every water bottle pocket on your backpack or camera bag can now serve as a tripod pocket. That’s HUGE!
Peak Design Travel Tripod Ball Head
Peak Designed reimagined what a Tripod Ball Head should look like and function and came up with something altogether different.
The ball head locks the camera in place using a typical Arca Swiss quick release plate setup and then adds a twist locking mechanism for security.

Peak Design Travel Tripod Deployment
Peak Design uses Cam Levers to open and collapse the tripod. A quick method is to open all the levers at once and then full extend the legs. It does take a bit of practice, but once mastered it becomes really quick.
Traditional Tripod vs Peak Design Travel Tripod
Peak Design reengineered how a typical tripod collapses and analyzed how they could come up with a tripod that would take up less room.
The goal was to eliminate any dead space and minimize packed-down size. The end result is a tripod that takes up much less room and can be stored in almost any backpack or bag that has a water bottle holder.

Travel Tripod Shootout – Peak Design Vs The Competition
If you look at the travel tripod current competition, Peak Design’s new Travel Tripod seems to be the clear winner when it comes to packable space and carrying options. The others are simply more bulky and take up more room when venturing abroad.
From everything I have read and seen, it looks like Peak Design has come up with another winner. The travel tripod will not be for everyone, but for those who like using tripods and love to travel, Peak Design’s Travel Tripod will be sure to please.
