Paradis Sport Underwear

The First Layer Matters: A Look at Women’s Sports Underwear from Paradis Sport (Sounds like Parity)

When I think about workout clothing, I think most of us think about leggings, running shorts, shoes, or a good moisture-wicking top, and albeit, some ultra compressed, difficult to put on sports bras. Underwear bottoms don’t always make the list. But for women who are active, the first layer can have a surprisingly big impact on how comfortable a workout feels.

The wrong underwear can bunch, shift, ride up, trap moisture, or create uncomfortable seams exactly where you don’t want them. The right pair, on the other hand, can become something you barely notice—which is really the goal.

Recently, I’ve been taking a closer look at Paradis Sport, a women-owned company focused specifically on performance underwear and sports bras. What caught my attention isn’t simply the athletic styling, but the company’s attention to comfort, movement, fabric choice, and the particular needs of active women.

I really like the idea behind the products, and after looking more closely at the materials and construction, I do think Paradis Sport is a brand worth knowing about.

What Makes Sports Underwear Different?

Regular underwear isn’t necessarily designed for running, cycling, hiking, lifting, or other sustained movement.

During exercise, your body generates heat and moisture. You’re also bending, stretching, running, jumping, and moving repeatedly. Underwear needs to move with you while staying in place.

That’s where purpose-designed sports underwear can make a difference.

Paradis Sport’s approach is centered around creating underwear specifically for active women. The company was founded by a former Division I athlete, after her own frustration with the fit and performance of athletic underwear. The products have subsequently been developed with input from female athletes.

That background is interesting because the needs of an active woman aren’t necessarily the same as the needs of someone shopping for everyday lingerie or basic cotton underwear.

For exercise, comfort is performance.

If you’re constantly adjusting your clothing, you’re not completely focused on your workout.

Softness Meets Performance

One of the most interesting materials in Paradis Sport’s lineup is its Natural Fiber collection.

The underwear is made from micro-modal, a soft fiber derived from beech-tree pulp. The trees used for the material are sustainably harvested, and the resulting fabric is cut and sewn into the finished garments.

Micro-modal is known for having a particularly smooth, soft feel against the skin. That’s appealing for underwear because this is clothing worn directly against one of the most sensitive areas of the body.

But softness alone isn’t enough for athletic wear.

The fabric also needs to provide stretch and moisture management while allowing the wearer to move comfortably.

That’s what makes the Natural Fiber collection interesting to me. It combines the familiar appeal of a natural-source fiber with the functional qualities women generally look for in active underwear.

The collection includes several different cuts, including bikini, thong, boyshort, and high-waisted styles. Having options is important because there isn’t one universally perfect style for every body, workout, or outfit. Check out their shop for details!

Staying Comfortable While Moving

One of the biggest tests of athletic underwear is what happens after you’ve been wearing it for an hour.

A pair may feel perfectly comfortable when you first put it on, but running, sweating, and repeated movement can reveal problems pretty quickly.

Features such as stretch, moisture management, seamless construction, and tag-free designs can help reduce some of those common distractions.

Paradis Sport’s designs are intended to stay in place while the wearer moves, which is particularly useful for activities involving a lot of repetitive motion.

Think running, cycling, skiing, hiking, strength training—or even spending an entire day traveling in athletic clothing.

The goal isn’t to create underwear that you constantly notice.

The goal is almost the opposite.

You want to put it on, move, and forget about it.

And Then There’s the Sports Bra

Of course, underwear isn’t the only first layer that matters.

For many women, finding a sports bra that provides enough support without becoming uncomfortable is an ongoing challenge.

Too little support can make exercise uncomfortable. Too much compression can make breathing and movement feel restricted, not to mention the over compressed and restricted feeling from wearing it. So many supportive sports bras can be too compressing, leaving tight markings around our chests, which can not be a healthy thing for extended periods. And a poorly fitting bra can become something you’re constantly tugging, adjusting, or thinking about.

Paradis Sport also offers sports bras designed for active use, including racerback and ballet-back styles. The designs are intended to provide support while allowing freedom of movement and airflow.

The company has also incorporated merino-blend fabric into some of its newer designs. Merino is an interesting choice for active clothing because it can provide softness and temperature-regulating properties while still being suitable for exercise.

As with any sports bra, fit is going to be personal. What works beautifully for one woman may not provide enough support for another. But the attention to materials and athletic movement makes these pieces worth considering, particularly for women who want something different from the highly compressive sports bras that dominate much of the market.

One Noteworthy Observation –

I absolutely love wearing this bra. It’s easy to put on and take off – No awkward striving to get it in place. I wear it for workouts mostly, but I would like to wear it for daily use too – which you can. However, if you like to have a little padding to prevent showing how cold it is, there are some insert holes and space to add some lite padding at the chest pockets. To be clear though, there is no padding inserts included.

A Woman-Owned Company With an Athlete’s Perspective

Another reason Paradis Sport caught our attention is the company’s origin.

The brand was started by a woman who had firsthand experience as an athlete and noticed a gap in the market. Rather than simply adapting traditional underwear for exercise, the company set out to approach the category from an athletic perspective.

That distinction matters.

Women’s sportswear has improved dramatically over the years, but there are still plenty of products that seem to treat women’s bodies as an afterthought. Underwear is one of those categories where small design decisions can have a significant effect on comfort.

Having women involved in product development and athlete testing doesn’t guarantee that every product will work for every woman—but it is certainly a worthwhile perspective to bring to the design process.

A More Thoughtful Approach to Materials

I’m also interested in the sustainability side of the Natural Fiber collection.

The micro-modal used in the underwear comes from sustainably harvested beech-tree pulp, providing an alternative to conventional synthetic fabrics.

Of course, sustainability isn’t as simple as saying one material is “good” and another is “bad.” The environmental impact of clothing involves everything from raw materials and manufacturing to transportation, washing, durability, and what happens when the garment is eventually discarded.

Still, choosing a fabric made from a renewable tree-based source is an interesting step for a category that frequently relies heavily on synthetic fibers.

Paradis Sport also focuses on reducing waste through its manufacturing and packaging practices.

For consumers who are trying to become more intentional about what they purchase, these considerations can be meaningful—particularly when the product also needs to perform.

The Verdict

I’m a fan of athletic clothing that solves a practical problem without making the experience more complicated.

That’s what I find appealing about Paradis Sport.

It’s not simply about making underwear look sporty. The focus is on the things that actually matter when you’re moving: softness, fit, stretch, moisture management, support, and staying in place.

The Natural Fiber collection is especially appealing for women who prefer a softer, more natural-feeling fabric against their skin while still wanting something suitable for an active lifestyle.

And the sports bras are worth exploring for women looking for supportive pieces that aren’t solely focused on maximum compression.

No piece of athletic clothing is going to be perfect for every woman. Body shape, activity level, personal preference, and the amount of support required all matter.

But the first layer deserves more attention than it usually gets.

Because whether you’re running five miles, lifting weights, hiking a mountain, heading to a yoga class, or simply spending a busy day on the move, being comfortable underneath it all can make a difference.

And that’s something I can get behind.
