2017 Top Mountain Bike Cycling Shoes
Today we wanted to introduce you to some of the 2017 top mountain bike cycling shoes and best cycling shoe companies in the industry. There are a lot of players out there, but these companies continue to bring it year after year.
2017 Top Mountain Bike Cycling Shoes
Sidi MTB Drako
Our number one pick for style, flair and overall badass is the Sidi MTB Drako. Italians just know how to create a stunning color combo and it absolutely works. The shoes look almost too good to even use. If the bright green fluo isn’t your thing, you have 4 other color combinations to choose from.
Sidi has been combining innovation with a half-century of experience and the Sidi brand evokes a passion that goes way beyond that of just a company.
The Drako’s main features include
- Microfibra TechPro
- Soft Instep System
- Adjustable Heel Retention Device –
- TECHNO-3 PUSH dials
- MTB SRS Carbon-ground sole
Vittoria IKON MTB
Like it’s counter part the IKON road shoe, the IKON MTB is killer. Vittoria decided to go a bit rad with their 2016 IKON offering only 3 color choices including the extremely bright orange, the brand new black mat and in the grey camouflage edition.
One thing is for sure, you will get noticed in these shoes if you opt for orange. The shoes have great protection where it’s needed and the Full Carbon sole with VIBRAM rubber is sure to hold up nicely in the harshest of conditions.

Specialized S-Works XC
While certainly not as sexy as Vittoria or Sidi, the S-Works XC gets it done. The dual boa closure system works and the extra closure strap at the bottom makes for a very secure fit. The shoes come with Specialized Ultra-light and stiff FACT Powerline™ carbon sole.
From my experience the road S-Works shoes fit like a glove and if the S-Works XC is anything like them, it is going to have an amazing fit. Those who have wider feet may find the shoes a bit snug.
Giro Empire VR90
These are the shoes your mother would be proud of, that is if she liked you wearing bright Purple on your feet. Actually these are the Purple People Eaters limited edition GIRO Empire VR90. The shoe comes in two other colors including a blue and a black/orange combo.
What sets this shoe apart from the mainstream is the lack of knobs or straps or anything high tech. The shoes have seven points of adjustability, which create a comfy, near-custom fit. Yep Giro went old school and it works. The Vibram bottoms are bomb proof and the shoes give a stellar performance.
The only downside to the purple is you will have a super hard time finding it. It was a limited production run and quite frankly might not be made again. The black/orange combo is killer though, so that might workout in the long run.
Here is a great video comparing the S-Works to the Sidi Drako.
Uh, they look nice!!
